EmpowerHer Impact Fund
I met a woman with a profitable saree-stitching business who still couldn't get a loan. She had customers and income, but no collateral or credit history. So I started a fund that judges businesses on real sales, real customers and real room to grow.
I screened 50+ women entrepreneurs in person and funded 7. Instead of handing over cash, I bought exactly what each business needed (a machine, raw material, equipment) and ran training on digital sales, marketing and bookkeeping.
Each business returns 5% of its extra profit to a shared pool that funds the next entrepreneur, so the fund refills itself. Through partners like Frontier Markets, my training has now reached about 8,000 women. The funded businesses have created 4 new jobs, and the fund has had 2 press features.
